November 25, 2015 - Farmingdale, NY - On the eve of Thanksgiving, Dennis Briefel, North American Director of Giannini Guitars in Deer Park, NY announced today that his company has donated four guitars to this year's Marine-sponsored Toys For Tots program. "We received a call from a real estate broker we know who asked if we might be interested in donating musical instruments," said Mr. Briefel. "It's a no brainer. The Marines are our first line of defense, and they deserve our support." Giannini Guitars was founded in the year 1900 by Tranquillo Giannini, an Italian immigrant who traveled to Brazil with dreams of starting his own business. Giannini is the largest brand of musical instruments in Brazil and in 2012 the company opened their first North American office. Dennis Briefel has been the director since the US location in Deer Park opened. Their guitars are sold at Sam Ash and a strong set of independent dealers nationwide. This year Giannini celebrates their 115th year in business and the creation of various social media accounts including Facebook Instagram and Twitter. "These are great gifts," said Marine Staff Sergeant Ricardo Martinez who is also the Farmingdale coordinator for Toys For Tots. "Kids really light up when a guitar comes their way and their parents seem especially pleased. We really appreciate the generosity." Toys For Tots was started 68 years ago by a Marine reserve officer and has since become one of the world's most visible charities. Each year millions of dollars worth of toys collected by Marines are distributed to children all over the world. In 2013 alone, for example, Toys For Tots gave over 16.8 million toys to seven million less fortunate children. It continues to be a toprated charity, which means over 97 percent of donations actually go to those in need, while only three percent is spent on fundraising and overhead. First Lady Michelle Obama recently has been one of the charity's most visible supporters. Want to help? Drop your toys off at 127 Allen Boulevard in Farmingdale any day of the week from 9AM to 4PM, or go to www.toysfortots.org to find a drop-off location near you!
